Joyce M. Johnson, DDS
I knew I loved dentistry since I became a dental assistant at age 15. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, from learning about the latest methods and technology to simply taking the time to chat with my patients. I strive to provide the highest quality care, and I think of my job as a public service, helping my community live healthier lives.
Education and Continuing Education
Prior to becoming a dentist, I attained my Undergraduate Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, my DDS from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, and my General Practice Residency at Englewood Hospital.
I know that continuing education is essential in providing the highest-quality care, and I think of my profession as a lifelong learning opportunity. I also love teaching new and emerging dentists and am a Facilitator for the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine's dental ethics program. I also attend monthly lectures at the Bergen County Dental Society meetings, as well as six annual meetings at the New York Academy of Dentistry, a prestigious academy whose membership is by invitation only. I also attend the annual continuing education courses of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and the Greater New York Dental Meeting.
In the Practice
Helping people get out of pain or retain their dental health is a wonderful feeling. But even better than that is helping a patient realize that coming to the dentist can be a positive experience! The more a person appreciates coming to the dentist, the more likely they are to come in for regular visits, allowing us to maintain their health and prevent malnourishment or disease.
I have been working in our office since 1991, and absolutely love our team here. They care about each patient and take the time to make sure every person has a great experience and wants to come back! Part of our job is educating patients and families on healthy oral care, ensuring they have the knowledge and tools to take great care of their teeth.
I grew up in the Bronx and have lived the past 18 years in Glen Rock. My wonderful husband, David Harris, and I have three wonderful children named Alex, Nicole, and Remy. When I am not in the office, my greatest passion is taking photographs, especially of my family having a great time!
